After a stirring presence at the CES 2017 show in Las Vegas, the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017, #mwc17 in Barcelona, Spain – February 27th to March 2nd - is another mega event where HARMAN International will be unveiling exciting IoT solutions and partnerships. The contrast being where the CES event focuses on consumers, MWC is primarily a business-to-business (B2B) event addressing the communications space. If you choose to stop by the HARMAN booth, you will not be disappointed with the time spent in the HARMAN booth learning about the next generation of connected life and Internet of Things (IoT). With a theme of “Elevating a Connected Life,” the solutions on display will underscore a recurring premise of monetizing your IOT investments by delivering customer value with a strong business proposition.
Without giving away too many details and risk spoiling your visit, here’s a sneak peek into what you can expect to see in the HARMAN booth at MWC:
In Vehicle Solutions
Many visitors are interested in finding out more about how mobility and broadband can be delivered to the car for passenger entertainment - video being a killer app. The potential for generating service provider revenue streams from such applications are well documented. The connected car demonstration will highlight the HARMAN Telematics Control Unit (TCU), while other solutions around automotive will demonstrate how HARMAN is collaborating with AT&T®, Navdy® and the wider ecosystem of partners and developers to deliver services to make the connected car not just an everyday reality, but also an engaging experience for the passengers.
Our partnership with Intel on industrial IOT will be on show to demonstrate a joint solution – HARMAN Quick Predict. The solution delivers fault prediction on factory floors to help reduce downtime and maintenance costs. Inclusion of IBM Watson® will emphasize how audio can help users tap intuitively into artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities within a connected industry environment.
A security partnership with Entrust-DataCard® will underscore how identity and authentication can prevent IoT Devices from innocuously co-opting in rogue attacks.
TeamViewer® will be onsite to show how enterprise information technology (IT) leads can monitor IoT devices as an extension of their existing network. And in the same vein of bringing together IT with operational technology (OT) for improved operations and efficiency.
Look for an exciting new partnership with a Silicon Valley technology giant on both narrowband and broadband IoT infrastructure.
It doesn’t end there – there are devices and solutions from mobile and software industry heavy weights to round off your visit with insights into the next generation of connected life.
Industry Verticals with IP
A focus for this year's MWC participation from HARMAN is how IP driven IoT products can address specific verticals like retail, building automation, manufacturing, and healthcare.
With IoT products such as Harman over-the-air (OTA) updates, gateways, analytics, transport, and embedded audio, visitors will be able to see how an end-to-end IoT solutions can be formulated – through a combination of products and services - for specific industries to address any gaps or inefficiencies within those verticals.
