What is Polycom RealPresence Media Suite?
The Polycom RealPresence Media Suite is an enterprise recording, webcasting and portal solution that creates and delivers high-quality videos.
What does this agreement mean?
Effective December 31, 2017, Polycom will no longer sell RealPresence Media Suite, it will become a sole property of HARMAN.
HARMAN will rebrand and launch this as a product under its portfolio and provide development, sales, and support. As part of this partnership, HARMAN will own the engineering, R&D, sales, and support for the following Video Content Management (VCM) products:
Why did HARMAN enter into this agreement?
HARMAN with a vision to expand its enterprise solutions offerings has entered into this agreement.
Will Media Suite remain branded as a Polycom solution and continue to be called RealPresence Media Suite?
No, HARMAN will not be licensing these trademarks. With effect from December 31, 2017, this product will be renamed and launched under HARMAN’s product portfolio.
Will HARMAN introduce new features?
HARMAN has a long-term vision for this product and is committed to introducing new features. We will soon be releasing a roadmap outlining these new features.
What does this announcement mean to existing customers?
Existing customers with support contracts will continue to receive support by calling into Polycom. As and when the support contract expires, customers will be able to renew contracts with HARMAN.
Will this be an OEM relationship?
This is NOT an OEM relationship. Polycom will no longer sell Media Suite after December 31, 2017, and have no plans to partner with another VCM solution at this time.
Who will be performing feature adds, R&D and engineering on the product?
As of January 1, 2018, HARMAN will take over the development of products, bug fixes, engineering, and development.
Who will be providing Tier 1 to Tier 4 support for the existing customers?
For existing customers, Polycom will provide Tier 1 support and HARMAN will provide Tier 2 to Tier 4 support. Once these customers renew their contracts, all support will be handled by HARMAN.
Who will be providing Tier 1 to Tier 4 support for new customers?
After December 31, 2017, all new customers will receive Tier 1 to Tier 4 support from HARMAN.
